This package covers the years that made The Prodigy: the rave circuit they came out of, and the run of shows that took them from Coventry warehouses to festival headline slots in barely six years.

Liam Howlett was making hardcore breakbeat in his bedroom in Braintree, Essex when Keith Flint and Leeroy Thornhill — both dancers on the same circuit — pulled him into a live act in 1990. XL Recordings released What Evil Lurks in early 1991, and "Charly" reached number three later that year, making them briefly notorious as the band that started the cartoon-sample craze. MC Maxim Reality joined in 1993.

Experience (1992) was one of the first albums by a rave act and went gold. Music for the Jilted Generation followed in 1994 — darker, guitar-shot, angry about the Criminal Justice Bill — and entered the UK chart at number one. By then they had already moved off the rave circuit and into rock venues, and the 1995 Glastonbury set is the show usually credited with proving electronic music could hold a festival field.

"Firestarter" in March 1996 was Flint's first vocal and the band's first number one single. The Fat of the Land arrived in 1997 and topped the charts in more than twenty countries; The Dirtchamber Sessions, Howlett's mix album, closed the decade in 1999.

The sets here run from a 1991 Amnesia House night in Coventry through Fantazia, Universe Big Love, Sound City and Phoenix, to Glastonbury and Red Square in 1997. The later years are in the separate modern Prodigy package.
